About

Small studio.
Senior people.

Shukudai Labs was founded on a simple belief: every business deserves technology built around its own vision — not a template, and not a junior team learning on your budget.

Why "shukudai"?

宿題 is Japanese for homework: the work you take home, do properly and hand in finished. That's the whole promise. You bring us the hard, unglamorous engineering problems; we bring them back working, documented and easy to keep running.

How we work

Three things we don't compromise on

Senior hands only

The engineers you meet on the first call are the ones who write the code. No bench, no substitutions.

Handed in finished

Done means running in production with tests, dashboards, runbooks and a handover — not a demo.

Show our working

Decisions, trade-offs and diagrams are written down as we go, so your team can pick things up without us.

Approach

How the homework gets done

The same people from the first call to the last deploy. Four steps, in order, no hand-offs.

DiscoverUnderstand the domain before the code.
DesignArchitecture and UI, sketched and agreed.
BuildSmall increments, reviewed and tested.
RunObserved, on-call ready, handed over properly.
